WILLIAM S. BERTLER

William S. Bertler (pictured above) of 8118 N. Sixth St., Manitowoc, died Wednesday afternoon at his home. Mr. Bertler, 74, had been in ill health since spring.
Funeral services will be at 8:30 a.m., Saturday at Mittnacht Funeral Home, Manitowoc, and at 9 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. D.L. Krembs will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Mr. Bertler was born at Manitowoc Oct. 12, 1883, son of the late Stephen and Ellen Guidinger Bertler. He attended St. Boniface and North Side High Schools, and on graduation from high school joined with his two brothers and father in the operation of the S. Bertler and Sons., brick manufacturing.... (father Stephen) Bertler died in 1907, the sons continued the business until World War II. In 1919 William Bertler married Clara Hessel at Manitowoc.
Surviving are his wife, four daughters, Mrs. John Dudley of Golf, Ill., Miss Gertrude Bertler of Manitowoc and Mrs. Stanley Chicniewski and Mrs. Margaret Montgomery of Chicago, two brothers, John and George of Manitowoc and four grandchildren.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Friday where the rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m.

Manitowoc Boy Weds A Kossuth Girl – to Make Home Here
A pretty wedding was celebrated at St. Boniface church this morning, Miss Clara Hessel of Kossuth being the bride and William Bertler, this city, the groom. Following the ceremony a wedding breakfast a reception was held at the home of Geo. Bertler and later Mr. Bertler and bride departed for Chicago for a week's trip. Mr. Bertler is associated in the business of the Bertler Brick co., and is one of the city's well known young business. His bride is a daughter of J. Hessel, a prominent resident of Kossuth and is a young lady whose friends are legion. The couple will have the well wishes of a host of friends. They will reside in this city.
