Leroy A. Bertsche, 54, of 825 Summit St., Manitowoc, died Tuesday evening in Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. Friday in Pfeffer Funeral Home and 10 a.m. in St. Andrew Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. James Stamborski will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Bertsche was born Aug. 25, 1923 in Town of Meeme, Manitowoc County, son of the late William Bertsche and Lena Ahl Bertsche. He married Agnes Mary Barnes July 10 1948 in St. Isidore Catholic Church, Osman. Mr. Bertsche had been employed with Manitowoc Engineering Co. until his illness in 1975. He was a member of Machinists Union Local 516 and Amvets Post 23 of Manitowoc. A veteran of World War II from Dec. 20, 1943 to Jan. 29, 1946 in the 12th Armored Division, he served overseas in the European Theater in three major campaigns.
Survivors include his wife, Agnes Mary; a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Nancy Bertsche and two other sons, Steven and William and two daughters, Marilyn and Sarah of Manitowoc; his mother, Mrs. Lena Bertsche; a brother, Lester and a sister, Mrs. Donald (Arlene) Hillstrom of Osman and a grandson, Bryan.
Friends may call in Pfeffer Funeral Home 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, where a prayer service will be at 8:30 p.m.
