Janet V. Bonin, a Manitowoc resident, died Saturday, April 30, 2005, at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, Manitowoc, celebrating her birth and starting her new life on the day of her 87th birthday.

She was born April 30, 1918, in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Edward and Victoria (Kaiver) Saduske. Janet was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School, class of 1937. On June 7, 1941, she married Edwin F. Bonin at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Manitowoc. He preceded her in death May 31, 2001. Janet and her husband owned and operated The White Eagle Tavern for many years. She was a member of the Senior Citizens Center. Janet was an avid bingo player and enjoyed their cottage at Shawano Lake.

Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law: Jean and Wally Kitzerow, Manitowoc; Mary and Dr. Glenn Hoffman, Green Bay; Vickie and Rob Peaslee, Two Rivers; a son and daughter-in-law: Bob and Janet M. Bonin, Manitowoc; eight grandchildren: Tom and Bill Kitzerow; Ryan, Jason and Andrew Hoffman; Ashley, Kyle and Samantha Bonin; and three sisters-in-law: Helen Kortas, Manitowoc; Florence Rodewald, Newton; and Evelyn Mayer, Sheboygan Falls. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter: Susan Bonin; a sister and brother-in-law: Evelyn and Bill Naber; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Hilary Mayer; Edward Kortas; Alice and Leo Kornely; Elroy Rodewald; and Ralph and Mildred Bonin.

The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Manitowoc, from 10 a.m. Friday, May 6, 2005, until the time of the Memorial Mass at 11 a.m. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 6, 2005, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Memorial Mass will be the Rev. Gerald Foley with burial of the cremated remains at Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc. The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Shady Lane Home and Holy Family Hospice for their kindness and compassion shown to our mother during her last days.
