Besides Donnelly, two other actors named Jim Demarest and Jim Hawthorne also played the role of 'Mr. Checkers.' Donnelly also appeared in the television series, "Hawaii Five-O," playing 'Matthews' and 'Charlie Gray,' between 1968 and 1971. He was also a war veteran, having served in the United States Navy. Also a popular radio disc jockey and newspaper columnist. He passed away in Honolulu, Hawaii, at the age of 66.
