Joe spent his early life in Marinette and was a graduate of Marinette High School, Class of 1967. Joe served in the United States Marine Corps, and was a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he earned several medals.
Joe was most comfortable spending his time outdoors, and enjoyed running, biking, canoeing and playing golf. Joe was a life-long learner, an avid reader and a coin collector. Most importantly, he was a proud father and grandfather.
Joe is survived by one son, Matthew (Jessica) Zeratsky of Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin; one granddaughter, Natalie; one brother, Jeffrey (Donna) Zeratsky and one sister, Merry Jane Lindt, all of Marinette. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, James, Jr., Jeremy and John Zeratsky. Friends called at Hansen-Onion-Martell funeral home, Marinette, after 3 p.m. on Friday, March 18, 2011. A memorial service was held at 4 p.m. on Friday in the funeral home with the Rev. Warren Waddell officiating. Military honors concluded the service. Burial was in Forest Home Cemetery. Cremation Services provided by Bakken-Young Funeral & Cremation Services of Hudson.
