Professional Football Player. For eleven seasons (1956 to 1966), he played at the fullback, halfback and defensive back positions in the National Football League with the Chicago Bears, San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys. He attended Sterling High School in South Carolina and played collegiate football at North Carolina A&T State University. Following service with the United States Army during the Korean War, he was selected by the Bears during the 15th round of the 1955 NFL Draft. He totaled 131 career regular season games and in 1959, he produced a career-high 1,036 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns with San Francisco. During the course of his career, he achieved Pro-Bowl honors twice (1959 and 1962). After retiring from football, he worked in security with Sears.
