She was born Dec. 15, 1927, in Cambridge, Vt. the daughter of Daniel and Gertrude (Wagner) Randall. She attended school in Marshfield, Vt. and later Bradford, Vt. where she graduated in 1946 from the Bradford Academy.
On Dec. 24, 1945, she married Melvin “Carpy” Carpenter of Post Mills, Vt. They lived most of their married life in Vershire where they raised their four children. Carpy died Jan. 13, 2007.
She enjoyed painting, drawing, cooking, gardening, flowers and entertaining friends and family. Her greatest love was the time she spent with her family and the “get togethers” they all shared, and playing scrabble without a dictionary.
She is survived by two sons, Roger Carpenter of Thetford Center, Vt. and Randall Carpenter of Clarksville, N.H.; two daughters, Judith Fitch of Vershire and Theresa Charpentier of Wilder, Vt.; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two half-sisters, Glenna Priest of Lyndonville, Vt. and Katherine Whitehill of Waterford, Vt.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a son, Don Carpenter and a daughter, Vivian Carpenter.
A calling hour will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2015, at 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. with a funeral service at 2 p.m. at the Boardway & Cilley Funeral Home, 300 VT RT 110, Chelsea, Vt. with Pastor Tom Harty officiating. The burial will be held at a later date in the Post Mills Cemetery in Post Mills, Vt.
