Sandy Leah (Draper) Tripp Younkin passed away peacefully on August 27, 2014, at Avalon Adult Care Home in East Wenatchee, WA, following a short illness. Sandy was born in Provo, UT to Zira and Elsie Draper on June 23, 1930. She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters; four brothers; one daughter, Elsie "Fay" Johnson (1946-2009); and one grandson, David Johnson.

Sandy was blessed with two separate families. Sandy's first family was from a previous marriage, which includes her two daughters, Elsie "Fay" Tripp (Bruce) Johnson of Portland, OR and Martha "Marty" Tripp (Bob) Stierlen of Wenatchee, WA; two granddaughters, Karen Stierlen (Sean) Williams of Wenatchee, and Jennifer "Jenni" Stierlen Hoffman of Wenatchee; and grandsons, Mark Johnson and David Johnson, both of Portland, OR. She had four great-grandchildren, Arin Johnson of Portland, and Austin Hoffman Stierlen, Evan Williams and Skyla Chaffin, all of Wenatchee.

Her second family was the result of her marriage to her loving husband, James Melvin "Mel" Younkin on May 15, 1971, in Wenatchee, who died January 12, 1999. Sandy also had three stepsons, Jim Younkin, Mark Younkin, and David Younkin; and a stepdaughter, Diana Egan, who has preceded her in death; 13 step grandchildren and six great-grandchildren from the Younkin family. She continued to have an ongoing relationship with a former step daughter-in-law, Linda Younkin of Wenatchee and step grandson, Steven Younkin of Methow, WA.

Sandy and Mel were local orchardists and business owners in Wenatchee. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion, whom her husband was a loyal member; Sandy helped Mel run the Bingo program for many years. As a member of the Wenatchee Valley Humane Society, she enjoyed her four legged companions throughout her life, including her most recent companion, Melanie, a mini schnauzer.

Sandy and Mel loved to travel in their RV across the country including trips to Alaska. She loved gardening and shopping. She loved spending time with her husband, Mel and for 27 years, they were one in heart and purpose and shared everything together.
