Maxine Arlene Flessert, age 70, of Sheboygan, WI, passed away on Saturday morning, Oct.6, 2012, at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice in Sheboygan Falls after a 4-year courageous battle with breast cancer.
Maxine was born on February 26, 1942 to Elmer and Gerda Fick in Marinette, WI. Maxine's father died in a car accident in 1946. She was raised with her brother, Richard, by their grandparents Max and Martha Brehn until their teens when she entered the foster care system.
Maxine was a graduate of Peshtigo High School.
Maxine met her future husband, Arthur K. Flessert Jr. while working at Mirro Aluminum Company in Two Rivers, WI. They were united in marriage on November 19, 1960. Together they raised three girls. Arthur died in December of 2003 after a long illness. Maxine was credited by his doctors for the dedicated care she gave her ailing husband. It was said without Maxine's care her husband would not have survived his illness as long as he did. Maxine worked in several nursing homes in the Sheboygan area. Most recently Morningside Nursing Home where she was known to have been an exceptional Certified Nursing Assistant.
Maxine is survived by her Three Daughters: Debra (John) Duerwaechter of Sheboygan, Tamara (Scott) Engstrom of Two Rivers and Pamela (Vern) Wittkopp of Plymouth. Her Grandchildren: Courtney Lapaz, Travis Engstrom and Casey Wittkopp.
Her mother: Gerda of Marinette, WI, her brother: Richard Fick of the Green Bay area and one sister: Carol Oster of Hudson, FL. Maxine is further survived by her very spoiled cat: Clyde and special friends, Kari Lawrence, Lisa Balde, Karen O'Brien and many other relatives and friends whom offered much love and support over the past few years.
Maxine's family would like to thank Dr. Pat Marsho, Dr. H. Marshall Matthews, Dr. Bettag, Dr. DeTrana and their staff, St. Nicholas Hospital ER Staff and nurses of the 5th floor for their exceptional care and support.
Also St. Nicholas Home Health and Hospice especially Ann Roe RN and Terri RN for their care and support. Finally Maxine's family would like to thank the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for the loving care and support given to Maxine and her family. These loving doctors, nurses, and their staff made this difficult journey a little more bearable. We as Maxine's family thank you from the bottom of our hearts; you are true angels of mercy and instruments of God's love.
Memorial services will be held on Tuesday Evening, (Oct. 9) at 6:00 P.M. at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth. Rev. Judine Duerwaechter, pastor of St. Peter's United Church of Christ Church in Kiel will officiate. Cremation has taken place and inurnment will be in the Westview Chapel in Two Rivers.
Friends may call on Tuesday Afternoon (Oct. 9) at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth from 4:00 P.M. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Maxine's name.
