Frank H. Meighen, 69, of North Liberty Street, West Alexander, died at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, September 16, 1980, in Ohio Valley Medical Center, Wheeling, W. Va., after a lingering illness.
He was born August 8, 1911, in Aleppo, Greene County, a son of Mark and Olive Hughes Meighen, and had been a resident of West Alexander for the past 63 years.
Mr. Meighen was a member of the West Alexander United Presbyterian Church and West Alexander American Legion Post No. 656, and he was a former member of the West Alexander School Board.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Honolulu, Hawaii, during World War II. He had been employed as a carpenter and had owned and operated Meighen's Sunoco in West Alexander for about 20 years prior to retiring in 1973 due to ill health.
He was married October 25, 1934, to Helen Watier Meighen, who survives.
Also surviving are one son, Robert F. Meighen of Beaver Falls; one daughter, Mrs. Roger (Patty) Crow of the Fork Ridge section of Glen Easton, W. Va.; one brother, John Meighen of Cincinnati, Ohio; three sisters, Mrs. Dale (Bernice) Stollar of West Alexander R.D. 1, Mrs. Jane Flynn of Washington and Miss Margaret Meighen of Wheeling and four granddaughters.
One brother, Harold, is deceased.
