WAYNESBORO – Hazel Arvella Cornewell Murray, 98 formerly of Woodbridge, died Thursday, April 23, 2015.

A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. at Wayside Baptist Church, Saturday, April 25, 2015. Burial to follow at Augusta Memorial Park. Visitation to be held an hour prior to service at the church.

Hazel Arvella Cornwell Murray, 98 formally of Woodbridge, passed away Thursday, April 23, 2015 at a local nursing home. Born in Manassas on April 7, 1917, a daughter of the late Alton and Myrtle Cornwell.

Hazel was a member of Wayside Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Hamilton Murray and her brother, Brady H. Cornwell.

Survivors include her 3 children, Edith Holloway and her husband, Howard of Waynesboro, Kenneth Murray, Sr. and his wife, Chris of Las Vegas, and John Murray and his wife, Judy of Woodbridge; 6 grandchildren, Kenneth Murray, Jr., Ronald Holloway, Delene, Adams,Anne Lundy, Danielle Fleming, and Stephen Murray; 13 great grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Hazel also leaves behind special friends and caregivers, Julie Beauchamp and her husband, Rob.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Wayside Baptist Church, 45 Turk Mountain Ln, Waynesboro, Virginia, with Rev. Jerry Cline and Rev. Randy Blankenship officiating. Burial to follow at Augusta Memorial Park. Family will receive friends an hour prior to service.

Pallbearers will be Ashton Beauchamp, Scotty Beauchamp, Daniel Holloway,David Grogg, Matthew Murray, and Stephen Murray

Hazell Arvella Cornwell was married to John Hamilton Murray on 7 Nobember 1935 in Arlington Co, VA. They were separated on 13 October 1964. They were divorced on 9 August 1971 in Arlington Co, VA.
