Heidi Jones, 58, of Sturgeon Bay, passed away at her home on April 23, 2015. She was born on March 6, 1957, in Garrettsville, Ohio to Charles and Lillian (Klooz) Ranc. On May 1, 1981, she married Melvin Jones Jr. in New York. Heidi served her country for four years in the United States Coast Guard. She was a loving wife and mother and a very wise woman. She loved to sew, make quilts, cook, and planting her flowers. She also loved her dogs, Sophie, Massy, and Rose.
Survivors include her husband, Melvin; three children, Beth (Robert) Snell, Sturgeon Bay; Lance Jones, Portland TX; Iris Jones, San Antonio, TX; three grandchildren, Olivia and Kaine Snell, and Layla Jones; five siblings, Karel Ranc, Paul (Carol) Ranc, Cathie (Kester) Sears, Charles Ranc, and Laura (Mike) Creech; parents-in-law, Barbara and Joe Pate, Melvin and Evelyn Jones Sr.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Cindy (Scott) McGinty, Terry Fotion, Nancy (Tim) Hruska, Chuck Thompson, and Rebecca Thompson. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at the Forbes Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay with Rev. Dr. Mark Schwarzbauer officiating. Visitation will be from 5:30 p.m. until the time of services at the funeral home on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, live plants would be appreciated to add to Heidi’s memory garden or donations may be given to the Door County Cancer Society.
The family would like to thank Unity Hospice and Ministry Door County Medical Cancer Center for all of their loving care.
