Composer. He was born in Dicsöszentmárton, Hungary. He was one of the most important musical authors, specially in electronic music, in the second half of Twentieth Century. He was a follower of dodecaphonism, musical composition using the 12-tone technique, and is best known for his music used in the scores of Stanley Kubrick's films "2001: A Space Odyssey," "The Shining" and "Eyes Wide Shut." His father and his brother died in the death camps of Bergen-Belsen and Mauthausen. In 1959,he worked with the composers Pierre Boulez Stockhausen and Luigi Nono. Among his works "Apparitions," "Atmosphères," "Lontano" and "Le Grand Macabre." He died in Vienna, Austria.
