(1889 - 1965)

Mrs. Matthias G. Birringer, 75, of Rt. 2, Two Rivers, died Sunday evening at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc, where she had been a patient a week.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Saur Funeral Home, Kellnersville, and at 10:30 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church, Francis reek. Officiating as celebrant at the solemn requiem Mass will be a son, the Rev. Raphael Birringer, S.D.S.; the Rev. John Haen, deacon; the Rev. Claude Klotz, S.D.S., sub-deacon; and the Rev. Denis Cooney, S.D.S., who will preach the sermon. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The former Mary Magdalena Nachtwey was born Sept. 20, 1889 at Pine Grove, Brown County, daughter of the late John and Mary Jaklin Nachtwey. She was married to Mathias G. Birringer, May 28, 1912, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Pine Grove, and the couple farmed in the Town of Kossuth, She was a member of St. Ann Christian Mothers and Altar Society of St. Ann Church.

She is survived by her husband, a daughter, Mrs. Raymond (Evelyn) Lemberger, of Manitowoc; five sons, Erwin of Rt. 1, Manitowoc, Sylvester and William of Manitowoc, Norman of Milwaukee and Father Raphael, assistant pastor at St. Gregory Catholic Church, St. Nazianz; three brothers, Wenzel of Green Bay and Frank and William of Rt. 3, Green Bay; three sisters, Mrs. Ann Menne of Rt. 3., Green Bay, Mrs. Mathilda Birringer of Rt. 2, Manitowoc, and Sister Joachim of St. Colletta, Jefferson, Wis.; 13 grandchildren and two great grand-children. A son, Pfc. George, was killed in Germany in May of 1963 while serving with the U.S. Army, a daughter and a son died in infancy and a sister also preceded her in death.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 3:30 p.m. Wednesday where the parish and members of the Christian Mothers and Altar Society will recite the Rosary at 8 p.m.
