Mary Ann Mikel, 83, passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2015, in Dallas, Texas. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, May 15, 2015, in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis with Rosary at 7 p.m. Mass of the Christian burial will take place at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 16, 2015, in St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church of Ennis with Father John Dick as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Mary was born in Ennis, Texas, to the late Frank and Antonie "Nettie" (Galetka) Slovak. She grew up in Ennis and graduated from Ennis High School in 1948. On February 20, 1954, she married Louis Stanley Mikel and they made their home in Ennis.

Mary worked for Davis and Wester for many years as a cashier and for Erwin Distributing. She was a member of the St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, SPJST, KJZT #25 and VFW Ladies Auxiliary. The joy of her life was spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Stanley Mikel, Sr., on February 10, 1991; a son, Louis Stanley "Twig" Mikel, Jr., on October 9, 2013; and seven brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her sons, Jimmy Ray Mikel and Frankie "Funk" Mikel; daughter, Linda Kay Mikel; four grandsons: three great-grandchildren: brother, Johnny Slovak; sister, Georgia Frances Harrell; other relatives and many friends. S4
