Patricia A. Balmer, 80, of Mishawaka, passed away in her residence on Saturday, May 9th. Pat was born in Mishawaka on November 13, 1934 to George and Mary (Harris) Whybrew. She was a graduate of Lakeville High School, Class of 1953. On October 16, 1955, in Lakeville, she married Roger E. Balmer, he preceded her in death on January 22, 1980. Pat was a member of the Maple Grove UMC in Lakeville, Eagles lodge # 2038, and had volunteered over 11,000 hours at the Michiana Community Hospital. She was also a member of the VFW Post #360, and the Ryan Balmer American Legion Post #161.

Pat is survived by her children, Sherri Balmer of Mishawaka, Lori (Bryan) Rayl of Mishawaka, Mark (Kathy) Balmer of Indianapolis, IN, Ron (Lori) Balmer of Granger, Rick (Paula) Balmer, Michael (Carol) Balmer, both of South Bend, Thomas Balmer and Amy (Tim) Woodruff both of Mishawaka along with daughter-in-law, Danielle Balmer-Sweet. She was the grandmother of 17 and a great grandmother of 46. Pat is also survived by 5 sisters, Dorothy Schafer of Lakeville, Ellen Rensberger of Roan, IN, Mary Anders of Niles, MI, Ruth (Roger) Decon of Granger and Georgalee (Ron) Schriver of South Bend. She was preceded in death by her son, Ryan Balmer, who passed away on June 5, 2007 and two great grandchildren, Aaliyah Marie Rayl and Emma Jo Hart.

Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, May 13th, from 4 until 8:00pm in the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka. A service celebrating Pat’s life will be held on Thursday, May 14th at 11:00am in the funeral chapel. She will be laid to rest in the Southlawn Cemetery in South Bend. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations in Pat’s name be made to the Ryan Balmer American Legion Post #161, 133 E. Mishawaka Ave. Mishawaka, Indiana 46545.
