The former Bertha Greatens was born on November 6, 1918 in the town of Eaton, Brown County, daughter of the late Augustav and Mary (Pigeon) Greatens. On February 20, 1943, Bertha was married to John D. “Red” Wagner at St. Benedict The Moor Catholic Church, Milwaukee. He preceded her in death on April 13, 1992.
Bertha and John moved to Francis Creek in 1950 and operated Wagner’s Meat Market until retirement in 1982. She was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church, St. Anne Altar Society and the Francis Creek Rockwood Senior Citizens.
She is survived by her 5 children: Sandy (Ronald) Miller, Manitowoc; Cindy (Wilbert) Funk, Tisch Mills; Brenda (Charles) Pribek, Francis Creek; Vickey (John) Marquardt, Manitowoc; Marshall Wagner, Francis Creek; 15 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Augustav and Mary Greatens; her husband: John D. “Red” Wagner; 3 brothers and 5 sisters.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 16, 2015 at St. Anne Catholic Church, Francis Creek. The Rev. John Becker will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial with burial to follow at the parish cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. The Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home of Kellnersville is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Aurora Medical Center and Amy Schleunes, Nurse Practitioner for all the special care and compassion given to Mom.
