Dale J. Bolle, age 84, formerly of 10018 Reifs Mills Road, Whitelaw, died from Parkinson's disease on Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 12, 2007, at Harmony Assisted Living of Manitowoc.

Dale was born on June 12, 1923, in the town of Kossuth, son of the late Charles and Lydia (Benishek) Bolle. He was a 1941 graduate of Lincoln High School, Manitowoc. Dale was a U.S. Army veteran, serving two active duties, and was a member of the U.S. Army Reserves. His 26-year career began on Feb. 25, 1943, with the 44th Army Division in Europe during World War II, until Nov. 7, 1945, and also served in Korea from Jan. 17, 1951, until June 10, 1952. He retired from the U.S. Army Reserves in 1967, as a captain. He earned many military medals, including the Purple Heart after being wounded in World War II, and received the Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster. On Nov. 19, 1946, Dale was married to the former Ethelyn Junk at Holy Innocents Catholic Church by the Rev. E.A. Radey. The couple celebrated 61 years of marriage. Dale was the owner of Bolle Trucking Company for more than 30 years. His government career included being a member of the Manitowoc County Board from 1970 to 1980, of which he was county board chairman from 1976 to 1978. In 1982, Dale was elected to the Wisconsin State Assembly, and served for 12 years, retiring from the Assembly in 1994. He was chairman for 10 years of the Veterans and Military Affairs Committee, and in the past, served as chairman of the Wisconsin Counties Utility Tax Association, and was a director of the Wisconsin County Boards Association. He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Reifs Mills, the Reserved Officer Association, American Legion Gosz-Novak Post 199 of Reedsville, Kubale-O'Connell VFW Post 6179 of Kellnersville, the Disabled American Veterans, and the Old Timers Baseball League.

Survivors include his beloved wife: Ethelyn Bolle, Whitelaw; two sons and one daughter-in-law: Wayne (Lynne) Bolle, Whitelaw; and Alan Bolle, Reedsville, and his fiancée, Laurie Thompson; three grandchildren: Luke Bolle, Whitelaw; Angela (Chris) Konrad, Brillion; and Jesse Bolle, DePere; two great-granddaughters: Kaitlin Bolle and Madison Konrad; two brothers and four sisters-in-law: Lewellyn "Mex" (Marion) Bolle, Manitowoc; Lovell Bolle, Forth Worth, Texas; Elaine Bolle, Manitowoc; Dorothy Bolle, Francis Creek; and Evelyn Bolle, Manitowoc; two sisters and one brother-in-law: Barbara (Pat) Sieber, Fort Worth, Texas; and Salome Walesh, Manitowoc; and two brothers-in-law and sister-in-law: Lloyd (Ruth) Junk, Manitowoc; and Earl (Jeannette) Junk, Manitowoc. Other relatives include: Arnie (Helen) Junk, Manitowoc; and Adeline Van Haren, Manitowoc. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.

He was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law: Mary Sue Bolle; five brothers: Everett, Berlin, Francis, Carl and Robert; one sister: Virginia Swetlik; two sisters-in-law: Dorothy Bolle and Ruth Bolle; and one brother-in-law: Ummy Walesh.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 17, 2007, at St. Anne Catholic Church, Francis Creek. The Rev. Paul Paider will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial, with burial to follow in the parish cemetery, with military graveside rites accorded by Kubale-O'Connell VFW Post 6179 of Kellnersville.
