Private Cosharek joined Company A, 7th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division on the Anzio Beachhead on 26 Mar 1944. He was killed in action near Artena, Italy on 28 May 1944 during the breakout from the Anzio Beachhead and the push to liberate Rome. He was awarded a Purple Heart Medal.
