Ellendale, N.D. - Delbert Irvin Hatlestad, 95 of Ellendale, N.D., son of Robert and Julia (Erickson) Hatlestad, was born Nov. 11, 1909 in Toronto, S.D. He resided there until the family moved to Havana, N.D. when Delbert was 9 years old. Delbert moved to Ellendale, N.D. in 1930. He married Helen Gray in Aberdeen, S.D. on April 22, 1933. They lived and farmed north of Ellendale with the exception of the years 1934-1937 when Delbert managed the Standard Oil service station in Ellendale. Helen died in 1991 and Delbert continued to live on the farm until he moved into Ellendale in 1994. He entered Prince of Peace Care Center in 1999, and resided there until his death Sept. 19, 2005, at the age of 95. Grateful to have shared in his life are one son: Robert (Donni) Hatlestad of Port Angeles, Wash.; one daughter: Yvonne Weis of Salinas, Calif.; five grandchildren: Brian (Terry) Weis of San Jose, Calif., Deric Weis of San Jose, Calif., Ellen (David) Wood of Monterey, Calif., James Hatlestad of Bothell, Wash. and Darci (Tom) Lee of Everett, Wash.; six great-grandchildren: Nina and Olivia Weis, Hailey Wood and TJ, Hunter and Luci Lee; two sisters: Beulah Jensen of Wilmot, S.D. and Dorothy Schaefer of Tyler, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, four brothers, one sister and his son-in-law. The funeral is 3 p.m. Monday at Hoven Funeral Chapel, Ellendale, N.D. with Wilfred Goecke and David Bergh officiating. Visitation is 2-6 Sunday at Hoven Funeral Chapel and 1:30 until time of service on Monday. Burial is at the Ellendale City Cemetery. Hoven Funeral Chapel, Ellendale, is in charge of arrangements.
