Mamie Quon Lew of Salem passed away peacefully on 7 December 2014 at Marian Estates assisted living facility in Sublimity. Mamie was surrounded by family at the time of her passing.
Mamie was born March 9, 1919 in Butte, Montana, but moved to Los Angeles where she spent her childhood and early adult years. Mamie was married in 1941 to the late Sam Gene Lew who was a career US Army officer and employee with the State of Oregon. During her lifetime, Mamie and Sam traveled throughout the US and overseas including assignments living in Germany, Korea and Japan. Mamie was a consummate homemaker raising three boys and enjoying numerous hobbies including knitting, calligraphy and arts and crafts. In addition, she was involved in community service serving for many years on the local election board and as the supervisor of a polling station in Keizer.
Mamie is survived by her three sons; Bruce Lew of Dillon, Colorado, Don and wife Linda Lew of Salem, and Kevin and wife Nancy Lew of Bend. She is also survived by grandchildren Brian and wife Jamie, Karissa, Ethan and wife Carolyn, Gillian, Griffin and Samantha as well as great grandchildren Ruby, Samuel and Hunter.
In-lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association
Interment of remains will take place at 10:30am, 30 December at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.
Assisting the family is Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service.
