Joseph Braun, Sr., 80 , of Francis Creek, retired carpenter and farmer, died Tuesday at the homestead farm, near the village.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the home and at 10 o'clock at the St. Anns Catholic church, Francis Creek, the Rev. Joseph Rauch officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Braun will be unable to attend the funeral of her husband. She slipped off a chair this morning at the home and broke her hip. She is a patient at the Holy Family hospital.
Mr. Braun, who lived in the town of Kossuth most of his life, was born in 1864. As a young man, he worked in the lumbering business in northern Michigan and Wisconsin and in later years, took up the carpenter trade and after that became a pioneer dairy farm operator in Kossuth. In 1889 he married Miss Anna Schweda. The couple observed their golden wedding in 1939, holding open house at their home in Francis Creek. He was a member of the Catholic Knights of Wisconsin and the Holy Name society.
Survivors are his wife; three sons, Walter J. of this city, Charles of Detroit, Mich., Edwin of Rockwood; sister, Miss Mary Braun of Seattle, Wash.; and three grandchildren. The latter are Glenn Braun of Detroit, recently discharged from the marines, Rose Marie Braun of Detroit, serving as Red Cross Social worker in Italy, and Edwin Braun of Rockwood.
The body was moved to the Braun home this afternoon from the Pfeffer funeral home. The Catholic Knights and Holy Name Society members will recite the rosary at the home at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
