Six year old Andrew was declared missing along with his 4 year old sister, Leighton, and his mother, Laura McComb, age 34, in Wimberley, Texas on Sunday, May 24th. Their vacation home, which they had been staying in with another family for Memorial Day weekend, had been swept away by the historic, raging Blanco River flood in Wimberley, Texas. His body was discovered on Thursday, May 27th in the evening near the border of Hays and Blanco counties. Andrew and his family are part of the Carey family - two of whom were also flood victims. Michelle Carey-Charba, 43, and her father, Ralph Hugh Carey, 73. Andrew's father, Jonathan McComb, was the only person who survived. However, he had severe injuries, including a collapsed lung and a broken rib. He was often called Andrew rather than “Jr.” or “Jammer.” He was an incredible brother, cousin and son. Andrew just graduated from kindergarten and was excited about going into first grade. He had a zest for life in all aspects! Andrew loved attending Incarnate Word Academy, his teachers, and Sunday school where he learned to love the Lord. He enjoyed all sports, but baseball was his favorite and was excited to be on the all-star team. Andrew loved hunting, fishing and kayaking. He was a normal, happy little boy. He loved his family and enjoyed kayaking and fishing with his father. He was a caring child who loved to give hugs, take care of his sister, and would protect his friends from anyone who was not being nice to them. Andrew just simply loved life! He will forever be missed in the hearts and minds of those who knew him.
