Son of Raymond Bybee and Elizabeth Noall Bybee; husband of Marion for 25 years.

Bybee enlisted in the Army Air Force on September 18, 1940 and served during World War II on a C-47 Troop Carrier with the 16th Squadron, 64th Troop Carrier, 12th and 15th Air Force. He was a Flight Engineer, who sat behind the pilot and co-pilot and kept track of various things, including the fuel supply. He served in North Africa, Italy, India, and Southern France. Once, while starting up the engines he blew the hat off of a visiting dignitary--Winston Churchill!

Bybee received several service medals, including a Bronze Star for recovering a downed C-47 in a rice paddy in enemy held territory in the India Burma Theater. He was honorably discharged from the Army in 1945 with the rank of Master Sergeant.

Following the war, he went into the refrigeration and plumbing profession. After he retired, he worked for another 25 years as the irrigation manager/water-master for the Kentucky Greens Homeowner Association in Newcastle.

One of the things he most enjoyed was singing with a musical group that entertained area convalescent homes.
