Mr. Ronald R. Scheffler, 53, of 8422 Schffler Rd., Newton, Wisconsin, died Saturday, December 22, 1990 at Holy Family Medical Center, Manitowoc, after a courageous battle with heart disease. Funeral services will be 1:30 pm Wednesday at Salem Ebenezer Reformed Church, Town of Newton, Wisconsin. Rev. Neale R. Riffert will officiate with burial in Salem Ebenezer Reformed Church Cemetery.
He was born November 22, 1937 at Newton, Wisconsin, son of Elmira Koeser Scheffler and the late Clarence Scheffler. He graduated from Lincoln High School with the Class of 1959. Mr. Scheffler owned and operated the family farm in the Town of Newton, Wisconsin. He married Geraldine A. Stoeckigt July 2, 1960 at St. James Ev. Reformed Church, Spring Valley, Wisconsin. He was baptized, confirmed and a lifetime member of Salem Ebenezer Reformed Church. He was a very active member of the NFO serving the organization in many capacities including the NFO National Director from Wisconsin, the NFO Executive Board, the NFO Wisconsin State Board, the NFO Ledgeview Collection Point (Serving as a board member and as President), the NFO Nafcor Board, the Manitowoc County NFO where he served as its President for several years, the Newton Lion Club. He was also a past member of the Newton Volunteer Fire Department.
Survivors include his wife, the former Geraldine Stoeckigt; seven children, Denise (Steven) Thomas of Newton, Renee (Dean) Fischer of Reedsville, Kim (David) Grotegut of Newton, Vicki (Manuel) Waack of Manitowoc, Brian Scheffler of Manitowoc and his special friends, Chrissy Farr, Robert Scheffler of Newton and his special friends, Lori Salm, Ronald Scheffler at home; Ulrica Johanson Kartengren, a special foreign exchange daughter from Sweden; his mother, Elmira Scheffler of Newton; his sister, Rogene (Milton) Behringer of Newton; his mother-in-law, Orvilla Stoeckigt of Newton; 10 grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by a son, Dean Scheffler; a brother, Roger Scheffler; a brother-in-law, Frederick Behm; a father-in-law, Walter Stoeckigt.
Friends may call at Salem Ebenezer Reformed Church, Tuesday, 5 pm to 9 pm and on Wednesday from 12 noon until the time of services. Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home, Manitowoc, assisted the family with funeral arrangements.
