Alex M. Bonde, age 92, a resident of Laurel Grove, Manitowoc, and a former resident of St. Nazianz, died Monday morning, June 8, 2015 at Laurel Grove.

Alex was born on November 2, 1922 in Valders, son of the late Theodore and Genevieve (Baugniet) Bonde Sr. He enlisted in the Navy on July 1, 1944 and proudly served in WWII on LSM 365 in the South Pacific. Alex was honorably discharged as Seaman First Class USNR on February 24, 1946. On November 2, 1944 he married the former Rita Schad in Virginia. She preceded him in death on May 21, 2015.

He was employed with Manitowoc Shipbuilding as a supervisor until his retirement in 1984. Alex was a longtime member of St. Gregory Catholic Church in St. Nazianz and served on the Holy Name Society there. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, the VFW Cleveland Post 8974, Pigeon Lake Sportsman's Club and the Kettle Moraine Mink Breeder's Association.

Survivors include his children: Gail Schlies (special friend Robert Hill), Manitowoc, Joan and Daniel Reseburg, Kiel, Ann and Gary Hei, Kiel, Richard and Cheryl Bonde, Two Rivers, Steven Bonde (special friend Sherri Hayward), Kiel; six grandchildren: Darrin Schlies (special friend Tammy Watters), Shawano, Aimee Alexander, Denmark, Lee (Roxanne) Reseburg, Kiel, Todd Reseburg, Kiel, Bradley (Carolyn) Bonde, Nashville, TN, Stephanie Bonde, Thailand; six great grandchildren: Lucius Alexander, Denmark, Alana Alexander (fiancé Bill Lambert), Tisch Mills, Ryan Reseburg, Kiel, Allison Reseburg, Kiel, Bailey Bonde, Nashville, TN, Alex Crosby Bonde, Nashville, TN; one great great grandson: Mason David Lambert, Tisch Mills; one brother and sister-in-law: Donald and Margie Bonde, Newton; two sisters: Frances Hutchison, Manitowoc, and Marion Lenz, School Hill; two sisters-in-law: Virginette Bonde, Manitowoc, and Betty Bonde, New Holstein. Numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.He was also preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters-in-law: Norbert and Marie Bonde, Bernard Bonde, Theodore Bonde Jr, Odilo and Polly Bonde, Fritz and Katie Bonde and Roman Bonde; four sisters and four brothers-in-law: Margaret Bonde, Loretta and Elmer Koenig, Wilbert Hutchison, Irene and Alfred Stein, Rose Bonde and Robert Lenz; and two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Robert (Mildred) Schad and Elmer (Madeline Stecker) Schad.Funeral Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at St. Gregory Catholic Church, St. Nazianz.

Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Patrick Nelson, S.D.S. with entombment to follow at Knollwood Mausoleum, town of Kossuth.
