Robert E. “Bob” Hite, 85, of Fort Ashby, WV, died Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at the Hampshire Memorial Hospital Extended Care Unit in Romney, WV.
Born in Roaring Spring, PA, he was a son of the late Frank G. and Marie (James) Hite.
He also was preceded in death by his wife Gwendolyn N. (Mason) Hite on January 21, 2005 and a granddaughter, Rebecca Lease.

Mr. Hite was employed for many years with Local 100, Sheet Metal Workers Union in Cumberland, MD and retired from Walter Yoder and Sons Contractors in Pinto, MD. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was an avid ham radio operator, using the call sign KC8GHC.

Surviving are one daughter, Sandra “Sandi” Lease and husband Art of Romney, WV; a granddaughter, Carla S. Elliott and husband Woody of Romney and a great-granddaughter, Amanda Elliott.

Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home, Burlington Chapel, on Sunday, May 31, 2015 from 4-7 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Smith Funeral Home, Burlington Chapel, on Monday, June 1, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Vernon Beachum and Pastor Danny Combs officiating.

Interment will be in the Lahmansville Cemetery, Lahmansville, WV.

The family requests that memorial contributions be directed to the Lahmansville Cemetery Fund, c/o Kenny Swick, Sr., HC 84, Box 100, Lahmansville, WV 26731.
