Canadian Actor, Comedian and Writer. Ducommun began his career in his late teens doing stand-up comedy at a Vancouver club, and later played several clubs around Canada before starring in his own children's show, 'Zig Zag' on Canadian television. In 1983, Alan Thicke asked Ducommun to move to Los Angeles to be his announcer and a performer for his new late-night show, 'Thicke of the Night'. The show was cancelled after a brief run, so Ducommun began performing at L.A. clubs and acting in sitcoms and in TV series, such as 'Brothers', 'The Last Precinct', 'Moonlighting', 'Max Headroom', 'N.Y.P.D. Blue', 'Murphy Brown', 'The Wayans Bros.', 'Normal, Ohio' and 'Nash Bridges'. In 1989, HBO produced a stand-up comedy special called 'Rick Ducommun: Piece of Mind', which was followed-up with 'Hit and Run' in 1992. He had roles in several films, including 'No Small Affair' (1984), 'A Fine Mess' (1986), 'Spaceballs' (1987), 'Die Hard' (1988), 'The 'Burbs' (1989), 'The Hunt for Red October' (1990), 'Class Act' (1992), 'Groundhog Day' (1993), 'Jury Duty' (1995), 'Scary Movie' (2000) and 'Back by Midnight' (2004). Ducommun, who at one time dropped nearly 200 lbs. for acting roles and health reasons, died after suffering from complications of diabetes.
