Robert Apperson, 88, of Gibson City died at 4:34 a.m. Monday (June 22, 2015) at home.

He was born June 11, 1927 in Rantoul, a son of Andrew and Augusta Meuser Apperson. He married Carroll A. Votaw on Aug. 15, 1953 in Osman. She died June 21, 2001. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Wilbur and a step-granddaughter, Angel.

Surviving are his children, Robert (Carla) Apperson, Cathy Monical and Tammy (Charles) Taylor; two grandchildren, Travis (Jessica Hunter) Monical and Tiffany (John) Leisure; a great-granddaughter; a brother, Wayne (Audrey) Apperson; a sister-in-law, Polly Apperson; four stepgrandchildren; eight stepgreat-grandchildren and four step-great-great-grandchildren.

Bob was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict, serving as an infantry cook and mess steward. He was a farmer and served as a technician II for the Department of Natural Resources in Gibson City, retiring in 1999.

He was a member of the American Evangelical Lutheran Church in Gibson City and Gibson City American Legion.
