Joshua R. Keller
(May 29, 1991 - June 17, 2015)

Josh R. Keller led a quiet life; always helping others in need and dropping everything to be there for those he was closest to. With his untimely passing, Josh’s true identity has been revealed. He was a Superhero. This has earned him, in the very least, more than a “typical” obituary.

We all know how Josh’s story ends: a well loved and respected 24 year old, with so much life left to live, passed away unexpectedly on June 17, 2015 in St. Paul, MN. Proceeded in death by his parents Michael and Beth. Survived by his loving grandparents: Jerry and Audrey Dorumsgaard, Raymond and LaWanda Keller and his siblings: Jacob Keller (wife Jana, children Athena and Noah), Melissa Keller, Joseph Keller and many other family members and friends. The legacy Josh left behind in this world will live on through all the lives he has touched.

Contrary to what you may believe, Josh was not born a Superhero; he earned this title by going through great tragedy. He had amazing parents who loved him so much. In his youth, he lost both parents, first Beth and then Michael. A quiet and modest superhero emerged.

Now, we may wonder what the term “Superhero” means. Thus we turn to “Merriam-Webster” who defines “Super” as being “of high grade or quality” and “Hero” as “a person who is admired for great or brace acts or fine qualities; A person who is greatly admired.”

These adjectives describe the Josh we knew and loved so dearly. And like all great superheroes, he had so many amazing superpowers.
• He was an Army Specialist and served his country in Afghanistan. For his dedication and service, he received the following:
o Army Commendation Medal
o Army Good Conduct Medal
o National Defense Service Medal
o Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Two Campaign Stars
o Global War on Terrorism Service Medal
o Army Service Ribbon
o Combat Action Badge
o Basic Marksmanship Qualification Badge

• Earning a degree for HVAC from Dunwoody College of Technology in December 2014.
• The ability to fix or repair just about anything. He enjoyed his job as an Assistant Building Engineer; visiting different buildings doing preventative maintenance and repairs.
• He loved working on his lime green car, because let’s face it, what superhero wouldn’t want to drive a lime green car?!
• He was an amazing listener and friend. If you needed someone to listen, he’d be there for you no matter the time of day.
• And if you needed him to drive you home from happy hour or crash on your couch while you watched scary TV shows, he’d be there for you, no questions asked. You might have experienced him mocking you if you jumped at the scary parts, but rightfully so.

Josh truly was an amazing Superhero. He will be greatly missed by all the lives he’s touched and he will always be remembered in our hearts.

Services will be held at 11am Friday, June 26 at O'Halloran and Murphy Funeral Home (575 S. Snelling Ave. 651-698-0796). Inurnment will be held at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery at 2pm Monday, June 29. Memorials preferred to PTSD Foundation of America.
