Actor. The brother of juvenile actress Carol Sydes, also known as Cindy Carol, he grew up in North Hollywood, California. He made his first film appearance in 1946's 'Claudia and David', and went on to appear in such films as 'Miracle on 34th Street' (1947), 'Sitting Pretty' (1948), 'Canon City' (1949), 'Cheaper by the Dozen' (1950), 'Dreamboat' (1952), 'Lust for Life' (1956) and 'Gunsmoke in Tucson' (1958). On television, among shows he had roles on were 'Adventures of Wild Bill Hickok', 'The Life of Riley', 'Hopalong Cassidy', 'Topper', 'The Lone Ranger', 'Father Knows Best' and 'Dragnet'. In 1963, he enlisted in the Army and served two tours in Vietnam. Over a twenty-year career in the military, he was a highly-decorated combat veteran with Bronze Stars, Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Silver Star, Commendation Medals with Valor, Air Medals, National Defense Service Medal and a Purple Heart. After his service, he sold real estate, started a successful auction business and also started an auction college to train future auctioneers. Sydes died of natural causes.
