On Sunday, June 21, 2015, Dorothy Lenore Stamper Powers, 84, went to be with her Lord and her sweetheart of 60 years, Darrell C. Powers. Dorothy was born and raised in Clinchco, graduating from Clinchco High School in 1949. She was a retired secretary of Clinchco Elementary School. She was a Charter Member of the Clinchco Missionary Baptist Church. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Darrell; a brother, Basil Stamper; and a great-grandson, Gavin Jake Johnson. Survivors are a son, Darrell Wayne Powers of Clinchco, Virginia; daughter, Margo and son-in-law, Seldon Johnson of Bristol, Virginia; four grandchildren, Jake and wife, Dawn Johnson, Clay and wife Kayle Powers, Luke and wife, Amanda Johnson, and Dove and husband Jesse Goodpaster; five great-grandchildren, Caden Powers, Cooper Powers, Kelsey Powers, Skylar Johnson, and Finn Goodpaster; sisters-in-law, Ann Branham and Gaynell Sykes; and brother-in-law, Clair Syke; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. with Pastor Randy Moore at Mullins Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Temple Hill Cemetery, Castlewood, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Jake Johnson, Clay Powers, Jesse Goodpaster, James Yates, Jerry Powers and David Robinette. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tim Thomas, Richard Copenhaver, Clair Sykes, Richard Powers, Cecil Powers and Sterill Branham. The family would like to recognize Wise Heritage Hall for their loving care and attention they gave to her and her family.
