w/o Robert Parke Mettee (1873-1955)

Married Sept. 20, 1898, 8:00 pm

"There was a very pretty wedding at the Beckett homestead five miles north-west of town on Tuesday evening by which Miss Florence Beckett, daughter of Mrs. M. C. Beckett and sister of Mr. Miller Beckett, became the wife of Robert Parke Mettee of Monticello. They are very popular young people, representatives of two of our best families. Music was furnished by Prof[illegible]. Rev. R. U. Waldraven pronounced the marriage vows. The bride was prettily attired in white silk and was attended in the ceremony by her brothers and sisters. A wedding feast was served where a serenade was given by a large number of the young people of the vicinity, which added interest to the occasion. The bride received many handsome presents, and the young couple have the best wishes of a host of friends, in which the Mirror joins."
