GOLDSBORO: Joseph Leo Gaskins, 94, passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2015 at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Joseph was born in Gallia County, Ohio on May 23, 1921 to the late George and Mary E. Evans Gaskins. He retired from the Ohio Department of Transportation. Joseph proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp during World War II and later served in the United States Air Force. He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Marion, Ohio and had a passion for golf. If it was a beautiful day, Joseph enjoyed being on the links sharing shots and laughter with his wife and friends.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at Boyd Funeral Home in Marion, OH followed by a graveside service at 11:30 a.m. in the Marion Cemetery with Rev. Merlyn Winters officiating.

Joseph is survived by his wife of 59 years, Imogene Ruth Riggs Gaskins; his children, Sharon O'Dowd Jones of Goldsboro, Amy Jo Hesson and husband, Randy of Marion, OH, and David William Reynolds of Galion, OH; grandchildren, Patrick O'Dowd and wife, Jala, Molly McEldowney and significant other, Mike Endicott, and Kim Jones Shockey and husband, John; great-grandchildren, Brittany Warrick, Donavon McEldowney, Kelsey O'Dowd, Mason Shockey, and Novella Shockey; great-great-grandchildren, Jadon, Aria and Chloe Warrick; nieces, Beverly Aven and Dixie Neal; and nephews, Ray Champer, Wayne Champer, and Frank White.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Ustaszewski; great-great-grandchildren, Trinity and Serenity Warrick; twin sister, Josephine Gregory; sisters, Georgie "Ditty" Fortner and Gertrude Crego; and brothers, Clarence Gaskins and Francis Gaskins.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to the American Heart Association and the American Diabetes Association .
