Barbara M. Heidger, age 59, of 14 Rainbow Road, Catawissa, died at 2:40 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where she was a patient for four days.

Born in Carbondale on June 15, 1956, she was a daughter of the late Stanley and Nellie (Markuncus) Chesnick. She resided in Bloomsburg since 1974.

Barb was a 1974 graduate of Forest City High School, Forest City, and a 1978 graduate of the former Bloomsburg State College, where she majored in special education.

She was employed by the CMSU Service System, Danville, for 37 years and was currently serving as a MR Program Specialist II.

She was of the Catholic faith and enjoyed holding yard sales as well as attending them.

Barb was always smiling, always kind, always helping others and truly was an amazing person.

She was quiet, and often soft-spoken, but had a constant positive attitude. She worked to help those with mental illnesses and mental deficiencies. She loved her work. Barb cared for animals, especially her dog, Harley, and was a big proponent of animal adoption. It is a sad day for our family, but another angel got her wings.

Barb is survived by her husband, William L. “Bill” Heidger, with whom she would have celebrated 19 years of marriage in September; and a brother, Raymond Chesnick, and his wife, Rosie, Binghamton, N.Y. She was preceded in death by a brother, James Chesnick.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family, followed by interment in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy.
