Iranian Prime Minister. He served as Prime Minister of Iran from 1963 to 1965, most of which was known as the "White Revolution". Mansur was born to Prime Minister Ali Mansour and his wife. After his education, he started in politics, serving in various positions. Mansur founded the Progressive Party, which later became the "IRAN NOVIN' party. In 1963 Mansur was appointed prime minister and introduced many young new faces to the government. He was both liberal and pro-American in his policies. It was during his tenure that the "White Revolution" was introduced in Iran, which tried to make huge changes to the country. On January 22, 1965, Mansur was shot by 17 year old Mohammed Bokharaei, a member of the Islamist Fada'iyan-e Islam group, as he was arriving to give a speech before parliament. He passed away 5 days later. Mansur was buried in "Shah-Abdol-Azim" near Reza Shah's mausoleum in Tehran, and a "Kennedy-like" black granite eternal flame was constructed at his grave site. After the Islamic Revolution in 1979, his gravesite was destroyed and his remains were dug up and scattered.
