Emily was the daughter of William Clark and Mary Comley. On 10 Nov 1847 she married James H. Comley in Garrard County, Kentucky, and they had nine children: Sarah, William, James, Ariaba, Mary, Fethergale (Frederick), Louvina and Nancy. According to the mortuary schedule for Jefferson County, KY, Emily died of pneumonia. Information given on the U.S. Special Census on Deaf Family Marriages and Hearing Relatives, 1888-1895, by daughter Sarah J. Comley Young recorded the cause of death as milk leg.
