Leo Theodor Goldhammer was born on January 16, 1908 to August and Susie ( nee Going) Goldhammer in Douglas Co. near Delmont, SD. He passed away July 13, 1976 at the Wagner Community Hospital after a lingering illness.

On Feb. 2, 1908 he was baptized at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, by the Rev. A. W. Kraft. He attended St. Paul’s Christian Day School and was confirmed on Palm Sunday April 9, 1922 by the Rev. F. C. Gade.

September 1, 1929, he was united in marriage to Alfrieda Kraft. To this union five sons were born.

He was active in community and church affairs. He served as president of the Chamber of Commerce, held the various church offices and taught Sunday School for many years.

Survivors include his wife Alfreida; his father August’ five sons, Marcus, Wagner, SD; Marlyn, Irene; Paul, Wall; Maurice, Columbus, Nebr.; Andre, Cedar Rapids, Ia.; 17 grandchildren; two sisters, Ida Eisenbraun, Sioux Falls; Mrs. Alvin ( Bertha ) Eisenbraun, Scotland.

Preceding him in death were his mother, one brother, one sister and one grandchild.

Funeral services were held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Friday, July 16, with burial at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetary, South Delmont.

Crosby Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Fred Raabe, Don Rehwaldt, Alvin Uecker, Vernon Kraft, Ken Rehwaldt and Howard Bich.



Honorary pallbearers were Don Piroutek, Dale Bradley, Merrill De Wald, Vernell Kreeger, Oscar Abdouch and Bruce Krentz.
