We know very little about Gertrude. We did find a death record indicating she was interned at Rosehill in 1880. She was probably born in Prussia in 1806 and immigrated to the U.S. with her husband, and three of her children, Elizabeth, Catherine (?) and William in 1854. They entered the U.S. in New York and settled in Chicago at 43 Hope Street. She lived there with John and eventually her widowed daughter, Elizabeth and two granddaughters, Lizzie and Louise, until her death in 1888.
