She appeared in several more TV shows before landing a role in the seminal teen comedy 'Can't Buy Me Love.' She went on to appear in a few more films, including 'The Lawless Land' (1988), 'Listen to Me' (1989) and 'Windrunner' (1994) and had roles on TV in such shows and movies as 'A Year in the Life', 'Doogie Howser, M.D', 'Hell Hath No Fury', and 'Jack's Place'. Peterson, who was never able to recapture the success of 'Can't Buy Me Love,' retired in the mid-1990s and moved to Colorado to raise a family.
