Eleazer Jewett, b. Dec. 18, 1796, St. Albans, Franklin, Vermont. d. Feb. 6, 1864, Swanton, Franklin, Vermont. He was the son of Eleazer Jewett and Mary Pratt. He married March 20, 1826, Dorothy Abel, b. Sept. 1806, d. Dec. 14, 1886. She was the daughter of Jesse Abel of Swanton, Vt.
"Mr. Jewett resided in Swanton, where he was County Surveyor for many years. He owned two farms; built a factory for making tile and also had two saw-mills which he built when he was obliged by his own millwright. He was a man of great force of character and executive ability."
