Colonel Thomas M. Gerbing was born in The Dalles, Oregon, on February 13, 1921.

He lifted off for the final time on June 30, 2015, to rendezvous with his beloved wife, Maxine; his parents, Herman and Helen; his brother, George F. Gerbing; and his fellow airmen.

He leaves behind his nephew, George T. Gerbing; and many friends, including special friend Don Nelson.

He was a true patriot and lived his life for God and country. He continued to serve and inspire veterans at the Veterans Hospital and the Marshall Home up until he was 93 years old.

He was a parishioner at Saint Pius X Catholic Church since it began in 1970. During his final days he continued to pray with friends and sing hymns. One of his final acts was to muster the strength to lift his arm to salute friends who were at his bedside. He was an inspiration to all who knew and met him.

Visitation and rosary at Bring's Broadway Chapel, Tucson, Ariz., will take place on Wednesday, July 8, 2015, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and a funeral Mass of Christian Burial followed by graveside service will take place at St. Pius X Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2015.
