Dr. Bishop, a son of the late John and Belle Bishop, was graduated from Columbia University in 1910 and received his medical degree from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia in 1912. His internship was spent at St. Luke's Hospital and he was attending physician there for nearly 20 years. From 1936 to 1938 he was president of the medical board. He had also served as president for the Alumni of St. Luke's.
In World War I he served with the Medical Corps as First Lieutenant. He was a former president of the New York Academy of Medicine; the State Medical and County Medical Societies; and the American Medical Association.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Dorothy Hoare Bishop, and a daughter, Dorothy W. Bishop.
