Entertainer. He was the co-founder and lead vocalist of the 1950s music ensemble "The Diamonds." Raised in Toronto, he initially studied Architecture, prior to focusing on singing (which he enjoyed to do since his childhood). After forming "The Diamonds" during the mid 1950s, they scored gold records with "Little Darlin'" (1957) and "The Stroll" (1958) with the Mercury label. At the height of their popularity, they appeared on the TV program "American Bandstand." After departing from the group in 1961, he added acting to his accomplishments and experienced credits in such TV programs as "Star Trek," "Gomer Pyle: USMC" and "McCloud." Additionally, he composed the theme song for the TV series "The Fall Guy" (1981 to 1986). Somerville remained an active singer and on occasion, he rejoined his former group "The Diamonds."
