Bertha was the daughter of James William Terman and Martha Parthenia Cutsinger Terman.
In 1911, Bertha married Dr. Robert Boyd McAlpin; from this union, two daughters were born. One daughter, Mary Louise McAlpin, died as a young child (1916-1919).
Bertha's husband, Dr. Robert B. McAlpin, died 19 March 1956 at Morocco, Indiana.

BERTHA McALPIN DIES IN CHICAGO
Mrs. Bertha Terman McAlpin, widow of the late Dr. Robert McAlpin, died Wednesday morning at 8 o'clock at the home of her only daughter, Mrs. John Spencer, in Chicago.
Mrs. McAlpin's body will be brought to the J.C. Wilson Funeral Home in Greenwood, where friends may call after 7 p.m. Thursday and where funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday.

GREENWOOD -- Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha Terman McAlpin, former local resident, will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, at the J.C. Wilson Funeral Home.
The Rev. James Dial of the Greenwood Christian Church will be in charge of the services and burial will be made in the Greenwood Cemetery.
Mrs. McAlpin died Wednesday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Spencer, in Chicago.
NATIVE OF COUNTY
Mrs. McAlpin was born January 5, 1880 in Clark township, the daughter of James and Martha Cutsinger Terman. She attended Danville Norman and Franklin College and taught school in Johnson County until her marriage in 1911 to Dr. Robert McAlpin. Except for a few years, they lived in Greenwood until 1954 when they went to live with their daughter, Mrs. John Spencer. Dr. McAlpin preceded her in death in March of last year.
Mrs. McAlpin was active in many organizations in Greenwood when her health permitted and was a faithful member of the Christian Church. Survivors include the daughter, Mrs. John Spencer and three grandchildren, Robert, Theodore, and Jean Louise of S. Ellis Ave., Chicago; a sister, Mrs. James Roth, of Indianapolis; two brothers, Joseph Terman of the Indiana Masonic Home, Franklin, and John Terman of Santa Barbara, California, and several nieces and nephews.
