Joan Grimm, age 80, of Reedsville, passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center in Manitowoc, surrounded by her family. Joan was born on March 12, 1935 in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Sylvan and Monica (Ryan) Torrison. She was a graduate of Reedsville High School, class of 1953. On July 10, 1954, she married Reinhard "Reinie" Grimm at St. Mary Catholic Church in Reedsville. Last year, the couple celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. He preceded her in death on August 29, 2014. Reinie and Joan bought the farm after Reinie's dad passed away, and they operated it for 48 years. Joan was the Florence Nightingale of the area. When called upon, she would care for friends, loved ones, and anyone else that needed her. She was selfless, always thinking of others. Joan worked in the medical field, starting her career at the Maple Crest Sanitarium. When they closed, she worked at and retired from the Manitowoc County Health Care Center. She missed her career and then worked at Garrow Villa until she was 75 years old. Joan loved God and was a very active member at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Reedsville. She continued to be active at Holy Family Catholic Church when the parishes merged. She was also a member of the Reedville Ladies Auxiliary. Joan was an avid bowler, scoring a 600 game. She also played sheephead, gardened, quilted, sewed beautiful clothes, knit, crocheted, canned, cooked, baked, and enjoyed going out with her friends.
