Grace was the daughter of James William Greenman and Cora Eloise Edgarton Marshall Greenman. The family relocated to Cleveland, Ohio about 1889 and then to Chicago, Illinois about 1900. Grace married to Robert MacClure Brookes on 24 September 1909 at Morgan Park, Illinois. Morgan Park is a community on the far south side of Chicago. They made their home first at Calumet, Illinois where her husband was a clerk with Armour and Company. They relocated to Chicago about 1920 where her husband was associated with Academy Packing House and Awen Cheese Company as a business administrator. Grace was a resident of Lima, Ohio when she was admitted to Paradise Oaks Nursing Home at Cloverdale for extended care. Grace and Robert were the parents of three children; Robert MacClure Brooks, Junior, Helen Olive Brookes, and James Greenman Brookes.
