Funeral services for Burl O. Murphy, 52, longtime resident of Virgil City community near El Dorado Springs, who died suddenly at his home Saturday, August 27, are held Monday, August 29, at 2 p.m., at Gwinn-Carothers Chapel in El Dorado Springs. rev. Workman, pastor of the Methodist Church officiated.
Mr. Murphy was born September 22, 1894 near Wheatland. He had spent the greater part of his life in the community where he died.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mora Murphy and three children, George, John, and Susan of Virginia City; three sisters and one brother, a half brother, and a half sister.

Burl O. Muphy was born August 22, 1894 in Missouri to George W. and Ara Wright Murphy. He was married to Mora H. Jones. Three known children were born to them, George, John, and Susan. He died at the age of 54 on August 27, 1949 at 7:30 a.m. of Coronary Occlusion, 1 1/4 miles west of Virgil City, Missouri and is buried in the Virgil City Cemetery on August 29, 1949. Burl Oscar Murphy lived in Wyoming for a time but returned to Missouri and spent the greater part of his life on the family farm near El Dorado Springs, Missouri. He died suddenly at age 53 and is buried in the Virgil City, Missouri, Cemetery. His father and son are also buried there.
