Cleophia Thomas was born to the late John Henry and Minnie (Smith) Thomas. He was born and raised in the Coopertown district of Oneida, Tennessee. He enjoyed a happy childhood while raised in a large family with numerous relatives.

At age 16, he answered his country's call for duty in Knoxville, Tennessee, where he joined the U.S. Army. He was stationed overseas in Germany where he joined the reconstruction effort.

After discharge from the service, Cleo joined his mother, Minnie, and brothers Gabriel and Aaron in Glendale, Oregon. In Glendale, he met and married Gladys Munyon. They had two daughters Carolyn and Susan. During their marriage, the couple lived in Fort Wayne, Indiana and Douglas County, Oregon; Glendale, Canyonville, Tri-City, Myrtle Creek.

Cleo married a second time to Nell R. Del-Alameter. Nell had 3 grown children of her own; Michael, Sherry, and Mark. Nell proceeded him in death.

For over 35 years, he worked at the Hanna Nickel Mining and Glen Brook Companies located in Riddle, Oregon.

My sister and I had the best father. I will be eternally grateful. He was the rock that provided stability for my sister and me. He was always there for us. Though divorced from my mother, he was not a weekend father. He was a 100% father. We feel blessed that God bestowed upon us an amazing dad.

My father enjoyed traveling. He travelled numerous road trips to his home state of Tennessee. He often travelled with his brother Aaron. In later years, he travelled by aircraft. His last trip was with his daughter Carolyn to Maryland.

My dad took care of his elderly mother Minnie for many years. He provided her a home and saw to it that she had what she needed. The way a son treats his elderly mother tells you a lot about the son.

My dad was a kind, generous man, who helped people of all walks of life. Though some people took advantage of his generosity, it did not deter him from continuing to help.

He is survived by daughters: Carolyn of Myrtle Creek, OR; Susan of Baltimore, MD; brother: Gabriel of Knoxville, TN; 4 grandchildren: Andrea, Amy, Brian, Bradley; 5 great grandchildren: Ashley, Julie, Leighton, Ayden, Ethan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Calvin, Issac, Willie, Charlie, Sylvester, James, Aaron, and Joseph Thomas. Sisters Cordelia Cecile, Glethy Cecile, Lizzie Thomas, Rilda Burke. Our family angel, his beloved Niece Judy Lynn Thomas
