Born Philip Aranoff in Hackensack, New Jersey, he was the son of Solomon and Maria(Eisenstadt) Aranoff. Among his Three Stooges shorts, he was the voice of "Tom" in "The Ghost Talks"(1949), and the 1956 remake "Creeps." He also played two, articulate villains in the Three Stooges' "Pardon My Backfire"(1953) and "Tricky Dicks"(1953). His remaining Three Stooges shorts were "Sing a Song of Six Pants"(1947), and the 1953 remake "Rip, Sew, and Stitch." Among his feature films were: "The Court-Martial of Bill Mitchell"(1955), "The Errand Boy"(1961), "The Three Stooges Go Around the World in a Daze"(1963) and "Robin and the 7 Hoods"(1964). During his prolific, TV career he appeared in numerous episodes between 1951 and 1968. Among these shows were: "The Red Skelton Hour"(1951-1962), "Cowboy G-Men"(1952-53), "The George Burns and Gracie Allen Show"(1953-1958), "Make Room for Daddy"(1953-1964), "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet"(1956-1965), "Perry Mason"(1958-1966), " The Dick Van Dyke Show"(1962-63), and "Gomer Pyle:USMC"(1967-68). He had just completed a role in Otto Preminger's "Skidoo" before his death. Phil Arnold died of a heart attack on May 9, 1968. He was 58.
